Berny the dog is the official mascot of Ayhan Emilianof Basketball Academy. This distinguished Swiss canine dons the academy’s official AEBA attire and delights young athletes with his playful expressions and engaging, comedic performances. Beyond the court, Berny enjoys a celebrated presence within the community, making appearances at key events and charitable initiatives.
Berny plays a central role in the community initiatives of our academy, making regular appearances at schools across the cities where AEBA operates. He embodies the spirit and values of our academy on multiple levels, serving as a recognizable and inspiring figure for our athletes.
He is a Saint Bernard, a majestic breed originating from Switzerland. Renowned for their impressive size, calm demeanor, and friendly nature, Saint Bernards are exceptionally gentle with children. Characterized by rapid growth and a distinctive red-and-white coat, they combine strenght with steadfastness.
Historically bread as a working companion, the Saint Bernard exemplifies diligence, resilience, and unwavering partnership - qualities perfectly mirrored in Berny’s role within our academy.

The story, The myth, The hero
Berny’s legend begins in 2003 amidst the breathtaking Swiss Alps.
Though living a joyful life, he often wandered alone through the pristine snow. One day, while exploring the mountains, Berny’s extraordinary sense of smell alerted him to danger from afar. After hours of careful searching, he discovered a child lost and stranded in the snow, separated from their group.
As the cold deepened, Berny realized that greatness demands sacrifice. Harnessing his unique abilities, he offered the child warmth and sustenance from the barrel he carried around his neck, then carefully navigated the treacherous terrain to lead the child to safety. Exhausted near the journey’s end, Berny collapsed. The child ran ahead to summon help, and the villagers—familiar with Berny’s heroic deeds—swiftly arrived to rescue him.
Both returned safely home, forging a lifelong friendship. Through their bond, the child discovered Berny’s love for children, and Berny discovered the child’s passion for basketball. From that day forward, Berny became the child’s most devoted fan and a spirited advocate for the game.
This remarkable rescue marked the hundredth life Berny had saved, earning him the enduring title of “The Hero”.
